Friday, October 4: Kickoff to Primary Care Week
Where: Monday Night Brewing, 14 12th St S, Birmingham, AL 35233
When: 5-7 p.m.
Join us for an exciting kickoff to Primary Care Week at Monday Night Brewing! It’s the perfect chance to unwind with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and great company. Mingle with residents, fellows, and students from a variety of backgrounds in primary care. This laid-back gathering is all about relaxing, connecting, and having fun while learning more about the world of primary care. Get ready for an evening of great conversations and new connections in a casual, welcoming atmosphere!
Monday, October 7: POCUS-Guided IV Placement & Suturing Workshop
Where: Volker Hall, room 302
When: 12-2 p.m. - Lunch Provided!
Join us for an interactive, hands-on workshop led by our expert sports medicine and family medicine providers. Enhance your clinical skills as you learn the latest techniques in POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound) guided IV placement and suturing, all while receiving personalized instruction from experienced providers.
Tuesday, October 8: Patient Wellscreens with Live HealthSmart Alabama
Where: Titusville Library, 2 6th Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211
When: Open 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Drop in any time - Lunch Provided!
A special event where you get to practice and evaluate real patients in real time with the help and guidance of the Live HealthSmart providers and team. Come make a difference within the community by helping patients identify ways to make positive lifestyle changes in just 15 minutes. You will evaluate numbers for height, weight, BMI; blood pressure; cholesterol, blood sugar; and other health risks. The community members really appreciate this event and look forward to each student and provider they encounter!
