The UAB Healthy Donor Cohort (HDC) consists of non-pregnant adults weighing at least 110 lbs who self-declare as being in overall good health. Exclusion criteria for the HDC include active treatment for chronic viral infections, diagnosis of autoimmune disorders, anemia or lymphopenia, active malignancy within the last 5 years, and/or treatment with immune-modulating drugs. Therefore, while the members of the cohort are in generally good health, individual members may have some underlying health conditions that are common in the US and Alabama. This would include everything from high blood pressure, which is controlled with medication, to seasonal allergies that are treated with antihistamines. If you need specific information regarding the characteristics/demographics (age, sex, race, ethnicity) of our current cohort, please reach out directly to the HDC study manager, Dr. Lorenzo Thompson at lthompson@uabmc.edu or 205-659-0944.

As a service to the UAB research community, we have consented members of the UAB HDC to be contacted regarding participation in other UAB clinical research studies. If you have a research study for which you are recruiting participants and you think that members of the UAB HDC may qualify, we would like to notify our cohort on your behalf. Provide us with your study name, basic study information and study contact information in the form below. We will provide this information to members of the UAB HDC who have agreed to be contacted for other research studies. Interested participants will then reach out directly to you and your team to determine eligibility. We will submit notification of ongoing recruitment for other UAB studies to the cohort on a monthly basis.
