A group of UAB Orthopaedics advanced practice providers traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, last week for this year’s Musculoskeletal Galaxy.
Nurse practitioners Megan Allmendinger, CRNP; Kristen Cravens, CRNP; Alyssa Rice, CRNP; and Jessica Sanford, CRNP, represented UAB at the annual conference for physician assistants and nurse practitioners, hosted by the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
The meeting began Tuesday, June 25, with a day of optional pre-courses on musculoskeletal injections, splinting and casting, while the following four days comprised the event’s general course program.
The general course featured sessions on a variety of orthopaedic specialties, including the most common conditions of the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot. In the program’s small breakout sessions, attendees also had the opportunity to learn new physical exam and rehab techniques, participate in a hands-on fracture management lab, discuss common radiology cases and refine their diagnosis skills via interactive case studies.
