Aaron Casp, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, recently traveled with the United States Alpine Ski Team to the 2024 Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup.
The Audi FIS Ski World Cup tour event, held at Palisades Tahoe Resort in Lake Tahoe, was a World Cup Slalom and Giant Slalom race that featured top skiers from around the world.
Casp is a team doctor for the U.S. Alpine Ski Team and regularly travels with them during race season. In addition to the U.S. team, Casp was also responsible for the health and safety of the international athletes at this event.
“I have been taking care of U.S. ski and snowboard athletes for the last four years,” said Casp. “It is always an honor to take care of these elite athletes and represent UAB Medicine and UAB Sports & Exercise Medicine at national and international levels.”
At this year’s event, American racer River Radamus earned third place on the podium for Giant Slalom.
“This was Radamus’ first podium finish, and it was in front of a home crowd of several thousand spectators,” said Casp. “It was an exciting thing to witness for one of our athletes.”
