This month, a group of staff members from the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery participated in a fundraising event for the Spina Bifida Association of Alabama.
The event was a bowl-a-thon, and each team that participated was tasked with raising money for the association. In total, the UAB Orthopaedics team raised $600.
The department regularly cares for spina bifida patients, in partnership with the Departments of Urology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Neurosurgery. So, raising money was close to each person’s heart on the team, according to team member and Clinic Coordinator Ashley Williamson.
“It was a joy to be able to have a fun team bonding experience while also supporting the incredible Spina Bifida Association of Alabama,” said Williamson. “Our patients mean so much to us, and we are glad to be able to support them and those with spina bifida across Alabama.”
Team members from the department included:
- Erin Broderick (Orthopedic Clinic Manager)
- Sarah Kasprow (Clinic Coordinator)
- Bill Gunnett (Clinic Coordinator)
- Kristina Dennis (Clinic Coordinator)
- Ashley Williamson (Clinic Coordinator)
