The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program honored its chief residents, as well as supporting faculty and residents across the program, at Resident Research Day as well as a chief resident graduation dinner last week.
Residents endured a difficult training year, demonstrating preservation. Though the global pandemic showed signs of improvement, residents supported the highest trauma volume UAB has experienced. Program Director, Michael Johnson, M.D., is grateful to the residents for their dedication to the program as well as the department.
“These outstanding chief residents presented wonderful research projects that demonstrated their dedication to the department and to the field of orthopaedic surgery,” said Johnson.
Associate Program Director Lisa Kafchinski, M.D., is thankful to the chief residents for their hard work in research, as well their clinical impact.
“Each of these chief residents has work extremely hard in and outside of the operating room,” said Kafchinski. “We are sad to see them go, but we are thrilled to watch them succeed in their next steps, whether that be a fellowship or private practice.”
