Four faculty members in the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery have been named 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctors – Scott Doyle, M.D., William Garth, M.D., Herrick Siegel, M.D., and Steven Theiss, M.D.

Castle Connolly identifies top doctors in numerous specialties, including orthopaedic surgery, across the United States. Top Doctors are nominated by fellow physicians and thoroughly screened by Castle Connolly’s physician-led research team. Several criteria are considered when selecting Top Doctors, including professional reputation and qualifications, education, hospital and faculty appointments, research leadership, and more.

According to Castle Connolly, there are more than 985,000 practicing doctors in the U.S., and less than seven percent of those are awarded Top Doctor status. Doyle and Theiss have been Castle Connolly Top Doctors since 2014, Siegel since 2006, and Garth since 2005.
