Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Office Service Specialist III Brandy Embry will now serve support the Residency Program as assistant to Education Administrator Shay Chambless.
Previously Embry was the administrative assistant to Karlee Lau, M.D., Michael Johnson, M.D., and Brent Ponce, M.D., and will still support Johnson and Ponce. Now, Mary Shepherd will support Lau as administrative assistant.
The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program is led by Director Michael Johnson, M.D. The program is a five-year experience delivering comprehensive clinical training with an academic focus. About 30 residents rotate with 26 full-time, fellowship-trained faculty covering all orthopaedic disciplines, exposing them to the latest in state-of-the-art technology and procedures in every subspecialty.
Embry and Chambless together will work to support the outstanding residency program. Key tasks include coordinating resident interviews, resident research day and annual ACGME accreditation.
“Dr. Johnson and Shay have done such a wonderful job leading and supporting the residency program for the past few years, and it is an honor to be an additional reinforcement in the mission to grow and build the program,” said Embry.
