Associate Professor Sara Gould, M.D., on behalf of the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Alabama Orthopedic Society, attended a roundtable discussion on the quality of patient access to care issues, hosted by the Medical Association of the State of Alabama in December 2019.

The topic of prior authorizations was a main point of reference for hinderances to a patient’s ability to receive timely care and access to treatments.

The department of orthopaedic surgery is currently partnering with community organizations and other practitioners throughout the state of Alabama to help improve patient access to the healthcare that they need.
