Assistant Professor and Chief of Sports Medicine Amit Momaya, M.D. (left), and Assistant Professor Will Brabston, M.D. (right), were promoted to associate members of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).
The ASES is a society made up of leading national and international Orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in surgery of the shoulder and elbow. Through continuing medical education, the ASES annual meetings serve as a forum where persons involved in this field of medicine can meet, discuss new ideas, and present scientific material.
An associate member of the AAES must hold a medical degree and be an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Fellow in good standing or the major national group representing the medical specialty of the proposed Associate Member.
As associate members, Momaya and Brabston will attend and submit an abstract for presentation to the Annual Meeting at least once every three years. In addition, Momaya and Brabston will continue to review for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
“I am delighted to represent the department and the clinical excellence that we have in the area of shoulder and elbow surgery,” said Momaya. “UAB is a leader in the southeast for shoulder and elbow surgery– we have an incredible team of surgeons– and it is an honor to showcase the experience that we have at our institution on a national stage.”
