UAB Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) was honored to recognize Physical Therapist Justin Kirk, PT, DPT, and Jeremy Pritchett at the recent UAB Men’s Basketball game against Rice University Owls.
Justin Kirk is a local PT working at Therapy South in Birmingham. Kirk sees many UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Section of Sports Medicine patients.
Pritchett was a patient of UAB Family and Community Medicine and enrolled in its Exercise is Medicine program with the YMCA of Greater Birmingham. Originally seen for kidney stones, Pritchett was inspired by his wife’s second pregnancy to get healthier and have more energy.
During the first quarter, representatives from Sports and Exercise Medicine, including Amit Momaya, M.D., and Irfan Asif, M.D., joined Kirk and Pritchett, alongside their families, on the court to present both men with a signed UAB men’s basketball.
After the game ball presentation, Kirk and Pritchett enjoyed the rest of the basketball game, sitting alongside their families. UAB Men’s Basketball took home the win, holding a steady lead against Rice the entire game, ending with a final score of UAB 92 Rice 68.
