UAB Orthopaedic Surgery staff member Jennifer Swift has recently been promoted to interim clinical manager. Swift has been at UAB since January 2020 and was originally hired as the Clinical Call Center Lead.
In her role as Clinical Call Center Lead, Swift was tasked with building the Clinical Call Center and its five-person team. In just a few months, using collaboration and hard work, Swift and her team made huge strides, improving numbers for the call center across the board. As the team took on Trauma calls, patient volumes increased. And, just last month, the Clinical Call Center handled over 5,000 calls for the department.
Swift has been a nurse for over 30 years, spending the last 25 years of her career in a leadership role. She enjoys supporting her colleagues while training and teaching them new ways of caring for their patient.
“I look forward to supporting the department as we continue to grow and improve,” said Swift. “I am all about team building, morale boosting and benchmark patient care. I believe strongly in being a servant leader and that we should enjoy our work and each other since we spend more time at work than at home.”
Swift moved to Alabama four years ago from Boston. Her and her husband, who is a high school history teacher, share three grown children. They welcomed their first granddaughter in June.
