The UAB Department of Pathology is thrilled to welcome a new faculty member to the Community Practice Pathology Program, directed by Walter Bell, M.D. MennatAllah Ewais, M.D., joins the department as assistant professor. Ewais joins UAB from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she was a surgical pathology fellow.

Ewais earned both her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2011 from Alexandria University in Egypt, before serving as a primary care physician at Alexandria University Hospitals and Egyptian Ministry of Health. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Texas Health in San Antonio in 2022. While there, she was awarded the Pathology Gross Specimen Award in 2020 and served on the Quality and Patient Safety Committee.
After completing her residency, Ewais pursued a cytopathology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, which she completed in 2023.
Ewais is a member of the American Society of Cytopathology, College of American Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Texas Society of Pathology, Mayo Research Fellows’ Association, Egyptian Syndicate of Doctors and Egyptian Association for American Medical Training and Research. She has authored several publications and abstracts.
