Melad_D._2024_Headshot.jpegThe Department of Pathology is thrilled to announce a new faculty member joining our team August 15. Melad N. Dababneh, M.B.B.S., joins the Division of Anatomic Pathology, led by Interim Thomas Winokur, M.D., as an assistant professor.

Dababneh joins the department from Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Robert J. Tomsich Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute where he served as a Head and Neck Pathology Fellow since 2023.

Dababneh earned his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology in Alrumtha, Jordan in 2017 before finishing a one-year anatomic pathology residency there in in 2018. He completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residency, along with Medical Education Residency, at Emory University School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 2023. In his final year, Dababneh served as chief resident. Among his trainee honors were Resident Awards for Excellence both in Scholarship and in Anatomic Pathology.

No stranger to teaching, Dababneh has served in instructor roles since 2017 focusing on gross pathology, high-yield physiology and histology. He is a current member of multiple professional societies, including the North American Society of Head & Neck Pathology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists and Jordanian Medical Association. He has authored several publications and delivered a number of oral presentations.
