Five Department of Pathology teaching faculty were among the faculty nominated by medical students for the UAB School of Medicine 2018 Argus Awards.

The Argus Awards, created in 1996 to recognize faculty members, give medical students the chance to honor their mentors, professors, courses and course directors for outstanding service to medical education. Faculty are nominated by course evaluations and students vote to select award winners in each category.

 

Pathology teaching faculty nominated for the 2018 Argus Awards include: 

Silvio Litovsky, M.D., Professor, Anatomic Pathology and director of the Cardiovascular Module--nominated for the Best MS1 Organ System Module and Best Educator in the Cardiovascular Module.

The Neurosciences Module in which Kenneth Fallon, M.D., Associate Professor, Neuropathology, oversees the pathology teaching, was nominated for Best MS2 Organ Module. 

The Reproductive Systems Module directed by Jennifer Gordetsky, M.D., Associate Professor, was also nominated for the Best Educator in the Reproductive Systems Module.

Vishnu Reddy, M.D., Professor and Interim Division Director, Anatomic Pathology, was nominated as Best Educator in the Hematology Oncology Module. 

Lawrence Williams, M.D., Associate Professor, Anatomic Pathology, was also nominated as Best Educator in the Hematology Oncology Module.

The winners in each category will be announced at the Argus Awards Ceremony on at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 7, at the UAB Alumni House. All faculty are invited to attend. Read the full list of nominees here.
