Bio

Brian May is a native of Chattanooga, TN. Prior to medical school, he worked as a middle school science teacher and completed a Masters in Education at Arizona State University then completed his doctorate of medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2014. He went on to finish his Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at University of Cincinnati in 2018 and then served as chief resident for there in 2018 - 2019, joining the UAB Med-Peds team the following year! In his clinical duties, he serves as a dual hospitalist in the UAB Hospitalist division as well as Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Children’s of Alabama. He is passionate about DEI, health disparities, medical education and medical education research around resident assessment and competency based medical education, feedback, and coaching. In his spare time, he likes to mountain bike at Oak Mountain and canoe on the Cahaba River with his 3 children!
