The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes and Children's of Alabama have received a Merle S. and Mack C. Hunt Diabetes Fund Field of Interest Grant from the Central Alabama Community Foundation to help fund a monthly diabetes clinic in Montgomery County.

Alabama has a high burden of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents. A diabetes diagnosis can be especially overwhelming for young patients and their families. To better serve patients and their families from the Montgomery area, the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes is establishing a once-monthly diabetes clinic beginning in August at Physicians to Children's in Montgomery. We hope that by providing comprehensive and convenient diabetes care closer to home to pediatric patients, we can greatly increase their chances of success.
