Lauren Nassetta, M.D., associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, has been named the director of the Professional Development Office (PDO). Her role as director became effective June 1, 2021.  

The PDO was established to provide support and resources to assist faculty and trainees with career growth and wellbeing. The office provides free and confidential counseling, consultation, and coaching for all UAB School of Medicine faculty, UAB Medicine physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, medical residents and students, biomedical graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. The PDO is part of the occupational wellness dimension of the UAB Medicine Office of Wellness.

In addition to this role, Dr. Nassetta serves as the Chief Wellness Officer for the Department of Pediatrics and is the UAB site Principle Investigator for the national consortium studying burnout and resilience in pediatrics residents.
