Alana Nichols, M.D., first year resident in the Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program, has been named to the subcommittee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) of the National Med-Peds Residents’ Association (NMPRA).
This subcommittee was recently developed and aims to develop a pipeline program for under-represented minorities in medicine (URiM) interested in the field of med-peds.
In addition, Dr. Nichols was selected to serve as director elect for the subcommittee for a two-year term.
The committee hopes to provide a community and safe space for discussions of justice, diversity, equity, inclusion and representation. Additionally, the group will work to improve mentorship of trainees, increase the visibility of URiM faculty and residents and increase recruitment and retention of URiM trainees and faculty in the field of med-peds.
Congratulations to Dr. Nichols!
