Jessica Schmitt, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes, was recently selected as the assistant course director of Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM) and Clinical Skills Scholar’s Program (CSSP).
Please join us in congratulating Binh Vu, M.D., fellow in the Division of Neonatology, on receiving the 2021-2022 Spring Fellow Research Roundtable/Fellow Core Conference Attendance Award. As part of this award, Dr. Vu will be given a stipend to use towards expenses for a meeting of his choice.
As of July 1, 2022, Elizabeth “Lilly” Alva, M.D., MSPH, assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, will be taking over as director of the Pediatric Solid Tumor Program. In this capacity, she will oversee and help grow and develop clinical, research, and educational aspects of the solid tumor program.
Justin Bailey, M.D., and David Taylor, M.D., were named the 2022 Joe LaRussa Interns of the Year.
Claire Cordes, M.D., a 2022 UAB Pediatric resident graduate, is this year’s recipient of the the Carolyn Ashworth, M.D. Pediatric Primary Care Award.
Through the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Partner Network Pilot Program, the CCTS aims to develop the future research workforce and combat health disparities in our region by supporting pilot research that addresses scientific questions across the translational spectrum.
The Pediatric Residency Program was honored to have Sergio Stagno, M.D., professor emeritus, give the annual “Last Lecture” on June 15th. Each year, chief residents select a speaker whom they feel has significantly impacted their education and development in residency.
Morissa Ladinsky, M.D., associate professor in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics, was elected to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the UAB Faculty Senate.
Sarah Bingham, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Emergency Medicine, received the Pediatric Instructor of the Year Award by the UAB Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
