Biography

Robert Brunner, M.D. is Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of PM&R. He has been the Medical Director of the Spain Rehabilitation Center Inpatient Hospital since 2004. In addition, he is the Principal Investigator of the Traumatic Brain Injury Model System and Director of the PM&R Outpatient Clinic.

Dr. Brunner accepts and admits patients to UAB’s Traumatic Brain Injury Service located within UAB Spain Rehabilitation Center. He also sees patients in the TBI Outpatient Clinic and the outpatient Spasticity Clinic.

Dr. Brunner Chairs the UAB Health System Credentials Committee and is the Associate Chief of the UAB Medical Staff.

Prior to joining the Department, Dr. Brunner conducted his internship at Baptist Health System and his residency in the UAB Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Brunner has been a faculty member at UAB since 1998.
