Biography

Sarah Lopes, D.O. joins the department as a physiatrist specializing in stroke, amputee, EMG, and orthopedics. Prior to joining the department, Lopes completed her residency at UAB’s Dept. of PM&R in 2024 where she served as Administrative Chief. 

Lopes graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University with a major in biochemistry in 2015. She received her medical degree from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020. In medical school, Lopes was inducted into the Golden Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes senior medical students, residents, and physician teachers for excellence in clinical care, compassion, and dedication to humanism in service.

Lopes grew up on a horse farm in Tylertown, Mississippi. When she is not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her two children, baking, and running.
