Biography

Xiaohua Zhou, M.D. received her MD degree in Beijing, China. She worked as a Pediatrician for four years in Beijing before coming to the United States. She studied Nutritional Science and earned Master of Science degree. She did research in Dr. Adzuma’s lab at the Rockefeller University. She finished her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at UAB and joined the faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2004. Dr. Zhou has special interest in stroke and neurological rehabilitation, spasticity management, pressure ulcer management. She also does procedures, i.e. NCV/EMG and Botox Injection. Dr. Zhou is currently doing a clinical trial for pressure ulcer management; she is also doing collaborative research with faculties in the departments of Neurology and Psychiatry. Dr. Zhou is a member of the American Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine, and American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
