UAB's Pulmonary Medicine researchers conduct a wide range of clinical trials to determine whether new therapies are safe and effective in treating people with a variety of conditions.
In our trials, we examine therapeutic products such as drugs or devices, procedures, or behavior changes such as diet. We also compare new therapeutics to existing ones, to placebo, or to combinations of current therapeutics.
UAB's research efforts consists of over 350 principal investigators and nearly 2,000 support staff across 6 schools and colleges. Collectively, these individuals conduct $200 million of trials across a myriad of disciplines that inform the decision-makers driving the new wave of therapeutics for tomorrow’s patients. By constantly assessing and improving our infrastructure as well as ensuring our personnel are well trained in their various roles, we are able to not only provide the highest quality care to our trial participants, but also do so in the most efficient and timely manner possible. Through the utilization of institutional systems, we are able to bring a higher level of consistency to our data tracking.
The UAB Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine engages in a wide variety of clinical trials, collaborating with multiple schools and colleges, located both at UAB and around the world. You can view our current clinical trials, sorted by condition/therapy, below.
