Bio
I was born and raised in Austin, TX and spent all my years in Texas prior to coming to Birmingham. I met my wife in med school and we felt like we both fit well into the UAB culture, so despite leaving home it was an easy decision to come to Birmingham. In the four years that have passed thus far, we have made amazing friendships, experienced incredible training, and thoroughly enjoyed the Birmingham area and all it has to offer. My wife is also currently training as a Pediatric Critical Care fellow here at UAB. Our family continues to grow with the additions of our daughter Hanna in 2021 and a baby boy due in Fall 2023. We have two wonderful pups: an Australian Shepherd named Wrigley, and June, the silliest little dog that we adopted from Decatur in 2020. No matter where the road takes us when our training is finished, we have loved Birmingham, UAB, and the people that make our programs so great. In my spare time, I love just hanging around with my family, fishing, playing the guitar/piano, board games, and painting. Most importantly, I’m a humongous Texas A&M fan.

Hey everyone, my name is Majd Habash. I am a first generation Syrian American born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I loved traveling to Syria every summer to visit family growing up, getting to learn and tap into such a rich and unique culture. And at the same time, I valued growing up with my American friends and their families, and participating in their fun traditions and ways of life. I am a simple kind of guy, don't need too much to be happy, just good company and good food. What better place to call home than Birmingham, Alabama.
What do you love most about being a UAB Radiology Resident?
I love that UAB Radiology can offer the opportunities of a high-powered academic center, but with a warm and personable work environment. You can't find that combination just anywhere, and that is something UAB Radiology fully embodies. We are taught by some of the best radiologists around, and are treated with respect, support and care. I am very thankful to be training at such a wonderful program with such great people.

We made the long move back to Alabama for me to attend medical school at UAB and him veterinary school at Auburn. Throughout medical school, I had no idea what specialty I wanted to pursue and eventually found myself drawn to radiology and specifically breast imaging. Once I completed my rotation at UAB, I knew that I wanted to stay for residency. I grew up in Cullman, Alabama on a cattle farm with my big family of seven. After graduating high school, I attended Auburn University and continued the family tradition of being a member of the College of Agriculture as an Animal Science major. I met my husband Tyler at Auburn, and we both pursued medical school at UAB after graduating. During our time in medical school, Birmingham became our home, and we matched here for residency- Tyler in internal medicine and myself in radiology. We have loved our time at UAB and the many memories we have in this hospital and city. Our favorite thing about UAB is the people. At UAB, people consistently go out of their way to provide the best patient care and to foster a nurturing learning environment for trainees. I have experienced some of the best teaching and mentorship I could have ever asked for during my radiology residency. I have also been supported and encouraged during our important life moments- matching, getting married, and most recently having our first child! We are so thankful for our time here and the people who have shaped us into who we are today!
