UAB offers a comprehensive 4-week clerkship for fourth year medical students interested in radiation oncology. During the rotation, medical students are encouraged to participate in all resident didactics, department conferences, multidisciplinary clinics, journal clubs and tumor board discussions. Students will gain hands-on experience in contouring and treatment planning for photon (X-ray) therapy. Medical students have the opportunity to work with our diverse group of attendings specializing in various disease sites (breast, central nervous system, lung, head and neck, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, or lymphoma). At the end of the rotation, students are encouraged to give a lecture on a topic of clinical or research interest.
