Medical students are encouraged to rotate through our surgical service to gain an appreciation of the wide variety of acute and chronic diseases seen at UAB Hospital.
Participating in a visiting student rotation does not guarantee an interview with the UAB General Surgery Residency Program. In addition, individual meeting requests with the residency program director, associate program director, and department chair are unable to be facilitated. We recommend that visiting student express their interest in our program to the faculty and residents they are working with, all of whom have the opportunity to be involved the General Surgery Residency recruitment process.
For U.S.-based students interested in completing an away elective, please complete an application in the Visiting Student Application System (VSAS), the AAMC web-based application platform for visiting medical students.
