Last month, the Division of Pediatric Surgery’s Robert Russell, M.D., and Department of Surgery Administrative Director Megan Yeatts, MBA, graduated from the UAB Healthcare Leadership Academy training program.

The HLA training program was originally created as a combined effort between the Collat School of Business and the School of Medicine. HLA directors David A. Rogers, M.D., MHPE, and Grant T. Savage, Ph.D., developed the program to foster the abilities and skills of potential leaders in the UAB Medicine community.

"The Health Leadership Academy provided me the opportunity to frame my individual strengths and weaknesses as a leader and learn specific leadership skills to work on and further develop in the future,” Russell said. “I most enjoyed developing relationships with the other HLA participants and learning how they manage their leadership challenges."
