More than 1,200 interns, residents and fellows train in every medical specialty at UAB in Birmingham, at our regional campuses in Montgomery, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa, and in our program in Selma.

In an ongoing series, the Department of Surgery will feature incoming and outgoing trainees for all UAB Surgery programs. In this week’s installment, learn about our Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship.

Hello:

This year, the UAB Department of Surgery’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship welcomes its newest fellow, Boris Kiriazov, M.D., who will begin his fellowship at UAB in August 2020.

Kiriazov received his medical degree from the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, where he also earned his undergraduate degree. Following medical school, Kiriazov left Miami for Tampa after matching into general surgery at the University of South Florida.

As a general surgery resident at USF, Kiriazov trained with Adham Saad, M.D., another graduate of our Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship. After completing his MIS training at UAB in 2017, Saad joined the faculty at USF as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery.
