Jayme E. Locke, M.D., MPH, FACS, FAST
Director, Division of Transplantation
Humbly and gratefully standing on the shoulders of giants who have firmly cemented our place within the field of transplantation, we look to the future as we aim to advance knowledge through innovation, collaboration, and our uniquely entrepreneurial character. This is the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Transplantation.
We recognize the transformative power of team excellence in achieving results, but our singular focus has and always will be our patients. They inspire and motivate us to push medical limits by developing exciting new therapies, pioneering the latest techniques and procedures, and building increasingly successful programs. We’ve responded by overcoming blood and tissue incompatibilities to increase access to living donor transplantation, addressing the organ shortage through xenotransplantation, and creating a living classroom to teach the next generation of transplant surgeons. Our patients are our family, and we are proud to answer their call to serve.
As you peruse the website, we hope you gain insight into a division that, at its core, is defined by the extraordinary surgeons who choose to call UAB home and the extraordinary patients we serve. Behind every program and every statistic are patients. And through our collaborative efforts, these patients are given hope for a future that prior to the miracle of transplantation was not certain.
We are thankful the opportunity to partner with you as we seek to climb to new heights, providing the highest quality of care for our patients and continuing to define state-of-the-art medicine for generations to come. Welcome to our UAB transplant family.
