The nationally ranked UAB Department of Urology is recognized for its advanced clinical practices, educational programs, and scientific inquiry through clinical, basic, and translational research.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Urology is one of the few nationally ranked urologic programs in the Southeast United States. Composed of 27 faculty and a large patient care team, we provide expertise to evaluate and treat the spectrum of urologic subspecialties. Our program is dedicated to research in clinical areas, basic science investigations, and the translational component that links these two.
Soroush Rais-Bahrami, M.D., is the interim chair of the Department of Urology. Rais-Bahrami is a founding member of the Program for Personalized Prostate Cancer Care, working closely with other faculty from the UAB Departments of Urology, Radiology, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Pathology. He brings experience in advanced prostate imaging, image-guided biopsy targeting techniques, and focal therapy.
Rais-Bahrami also has a strong interest in developing, improving, and employing robotic and minimally-invasive techniques for the treatment of urologic malignancies. He specializes in the management of all urologic malignancies and will see patients with prostate, kidney, adrenal, testis, bladder, ureteral, and penile cancer.
