CAIRIBU is a community of researchers studying benign urology diseases at U54 O’Brien Cooperative Research Centers, P20 Developmental Centers, and K12 Career Development Programs funded by the National Institute for Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), one of the institutes within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Kyle Wood, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Urology, presented “Management of Urolithiasis in Obese Patients."

Joseph Crivelli, M.D., endourology fellow in the Department of Urology, presented a poster for his research “Gender, race, and ethnicity among stone formers at academic medical centers in Birmingham, Alabama and Dallas, Texas.”

Tanecia Mitchell, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Urology, presented a poster for her research “Oxalate impacts macrophage metabolism and immune response to uropathogenic E. coli infection.”

The purpose of the CAIRIBU is to encourage interactions between Centers and Programs, the development and sharing of research resources, and the advancement of students and early investigators in the field of benign urology research.
