Overview
This interactive workshop is designed to reinforce ethical research conduct and communication. The day will begin with light refreshments, followed by brief introductions of attendees and organizers. Dr. Brown will give an overview of UAB’s research assurances including IACUC and IRB. Ms. Sweatt will then guide the attendees through the Office of Research Integrity’s interactive video series entitled “The Research Clinic” in which participants will make challenging ethical and personal decisions as a Principal Investigator, Research Coordinator, Research Assistant, and IRB Chair. During a lunch break, Dr. Pavela will distribute some light reading to be discussed during the post-lunch meta-ethics discussion. Dr. Brown will then tie the day’s activities together in discussing how to reinforce research conduct through research communication.
