Overview:
This interactive workshop is designed to reinforce ethical research conduct and communication. The day will begin with light refreshments, followed by brief introductions of attendees and organizers. Dr. Brown will give an overview of UAB's research assurances including IACUC and IRB; UAB ethics policies; and Office of Research Integrity case studies. Dr. Goss will then guide the attendees through an interactive case study on research communication, in which attendees will make challenging decisions about communicating the results of a study as one of three characters: a post-doc, an assistant professor, or a tenured professor. During the lunch break, attendees will discuss the case study with individuals in the other roles. After lunch, the group will come back together to review the discussions in their groups and be debriefed about the case study. Dr. Brown will then tie the day's activities together in discussing how to reinforce research conduct thorough research communication.

There will be a pre- and post-survey used for research purposes provided before and after the case study. More information will be provided at the workshop.
