The Office of Postdoctoral Education will host its final event of the academic year to explore career options beyond the tenure track May 15 in The Edge of Chaos.

Experienced and nationally recognized professionals in research administration will discuss diverse careers in the field and conduct a seminar on a range of options — from grants management to regulatory oversight to conflict of interest — during a panel discussion set noon-2 p.m.; lunch will be provided.

The presenters are all UAB alumni:

  • Katherine Tuggle, Ph.D., director of Research, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Bethesda, Maryland;
  • Toya Randolph, Ph.D., assistant vice president of Research Administration, DoD Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Washington, D.C.;
  • Gene Hines, Ph.D., research liaison, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, Tennessee;
  • Karen Iles, Ph.D., director of Conflict of Interest Review Board, UAB;
  • Justin Roth, Ph.D., assistant director of Occupation Health & Safety, UAB

A networking event follows from 2-4 p.m., and a social opportunity starts at 4 p.m. at J. Clyde.
