Three honored as emeritus faculty
Three longtime faculty in the UAB School of Medicine have been honored as emeritus professors. They are John T. Carpenter, M.D., James R. Jackson, Ph.D., and Luis O. Vasconez, M.D.

Business selects sales, marketing expert as new chair
C. Michael Wittmann, Ph.D., will be the new chair of Marketing, Industrial Distribution and Economics in the Collat School of Business, effective July 1. Wittmann comes to UAB from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he chairs its Department of Marketing and Merchandising.

Endowed chair, professor appointed in School of Medicine
Professor Ravi Bhatia, M.D., is the next holder of the Martha Ann and David L. May Endowed Chair in Cancer Research, and Professor Edward W. Hook III, M.D., was chosen to be the inaugural holder of the Cobbs Endowed Professorship in Infectious Diseases.

Meet some recent winners, including a carpenter sharing his skills to keep young adults out of crime and a couple creating a database to help eliminate vacant properties, in UAB Magazine.
