UAB IT is crowdsourcing innovation with SPARK, a new site that enables UAB faculty, staff and students to submit ideas for technology and vote to support the ideas of others. “Our intent is to create a voice for you,” said Curt Carver, Ph.D., UAB chief information officer and vice president of information technology.

Bradley Barnes, Ph.D., has been named vice provost for Enrollment Management, and his first day at UAB will be July 15. Barnes, who will report to Provost Linda Lucas, will lead a comprehensive enrollment-management unit to develop strategies for student recruitment, admissions, retention and persistence to graduation.

UAB policy requires non-hospital, biweekly paid, full-time regular employees to use personal holidays by the last biweekly pay period in June, which for 2015 is the May 31-June 13 pay period — or forfeit them. The policy for monthly paid and hospital employees is unchanged. The full holiday policy is in the UAB Policies and Procedures Library at www.uab.edu/policies.
