John F. Kearney, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor and Endowed Professor in Immunology in the Department of Microbiology, will be honored for 50 years of service to UAB during the 2025 UAB Service Awards.
Two others — Scott Brande, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, and James Michael Wyss, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology — will be honored for 45 years of service.
In total, 300 employees with 20 or more years of service will be honored by the university during a come-and-go reception 2 p.m. April 8 in the Hill Student Center.
The UAB Service Awards honors employees at each five-year milestone who have completed five or more years of service to UAB. Employees with five, 10 and 15 years of service in 2024 total 923.
