Space One Eleven honors UAB Art professor, graduate with installation
Written by Reporter StaffSpace One Eleven is an artist-run, visual arts non-profit organization in Birmingham. The installations will be on display in the gallery’s front windows at 2409 Second Ave. North through Sept. 6, 2013, with a free closing reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Baulos’ installation in the left window is titled “Bug Yellow Skin”; Thomas’ installation in the right window is titled “Turquoise Skin.”
Baulos, an Illinois native, earned his bachelor’s degree in fine arts at UAB and his master’s degree in fine arts from the University of New Orleans. His drawings, poems and books have been exhibited and published in the United States and abroad. His current books featuring art and poetry center on ideas of spirituality, love, death, shelter and hope.
Thomas is a painter, book artist and art teacher and hails from Birmingham. He earned his bachelor’s degree in art from UAB and has shown his work regionally and nationally.
