Klaus Mönkemüller, M.D., Ph.D., FASGE, professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and director of the Basil I. Hirschowitz Endoscopic Center of Excellence at UAB, has been elected co-chair of the International Committee of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Mönkemüller’s aims during his tenure are to increase the exposure and participation of endoscopists from around the globe to quality endoscopy and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the leading endoscopy society worldwide. Mönkemüller is an ASGE Fellow and an editorial board member for the society’s journal Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
