CORD develops regional science fair into state’s largest
UAB and its Center for Community Outreach and Development (CORD) assumed responsibility for the Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair in 2005, and the number of children, teachers and schools participating has skyrocketed.

GCL students get first-hand look at living in poverty
Students in the Global and Community Leadership (GCL) Honors Program recently took an overnight trip to Servants in Faith and Technology (SIFAT) in Lineville, a Christian nonprofit organization that provides training for people who want to work with the poor in developing nations.

“Let’s Do Lunch” and talk about menopause
Are you concerned about menopause? During April’s “Let’s Do Lunch” talk, Cynthia Sites, M.D., associate professor in the UAB Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, will discuss alternatives to hormone therapy for menopause symptoms. Screening not catching ovarian cancer early
The only available screening tests for ovarian cancer fail to catch early signs of the disease and often result in unnecessary surgery, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers say in a study published April 1 in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology.
