Identifying and implementing a new enterprise-wide electronic research administration solution.
Overview
An integral part of UAB’s institutional initiative “Growth with a Purpose,” the objective of myUABResearch is to identify and implement a single, enterprise-wide, cloud-based research administration solution. Huron Research Suite (HRS) has been selected as the vendor for myUABResearch. This new technology will provide UAB researchers ease of use, responsiveness, enhanced dashboards, business analytics, and improved submission processes.
myUABResearch will streamline the management of integrated workflows for the activities of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), the Office of Conflict Review Board (OCIRB), the Office of the Institutional Review Board (OIRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Animal Resources Program (ARP), Export Control and the Material Transfer Office (MTO), while providing robust data analytics to the UAB research community.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved vendor selection of Huron Research Suite (HRS) through IT plan on June 7, 2024.

What is the new eRA system implementation timeline?
We are currently working with Huron to determine the timeline. As specifics are available, we will provide more detail. Implementation is expected to begin in August of 2024.

What changes should I expect to see in the new eRA system?
- Role based user dashboards which provide ease of use and transparency.
- Enhanced reporting capabilities at the project, department, and school level.
- Smart form technology which provides electronic submission to research offices.
- Direct System-to-System (S2S) submission to grants.gov agencies such as NIH and CDC.
- Automated system alerts informing researchers when important due dates are approaching.
