University Risk Management, a component of the UAB Office of Compliance & Risk Assurance, supports the mission of UAB to enrich society and improve health and well-being through transformational educational experiences, groundbreaking research, innovation and entrepreneurship, community engagement, and world-class patient care by collaborating with the university community to identify, assess, and mitigate risks and by promoting a culture of risk awareness.

University Risk Management provides services to UAB staff, faculty, and students that include consultative reviews of planned or anticipated activities, incident investigation, claims management, risk mitigation, contract review, insurance procurement, and insurance policy management. We also serve as the initial contact to the UAB community for all insurance related questions. While many insurance policies are placed by the UA System Office for all universities within the system, University Risk Management may also procure and administer insurance programs to address unique exposures present at UAB.
