University Risk Management serves and supports the University of Alabama at Birmingham (the "university") and University Hospital with risk management related matters including incident reporting and investigation, enterprise risk management activities, property insurance and loss event management, liability questions and considerations, contract review, and risk management loss control activities. University Risk Management refers all medical malpractice and patient related incidents, questions and concerns to the UAB Office of Risk Management and Insurance. Clinical risk management (medical professional liability) questions should be directed to the clinical risk management staff.

 The UAB Office of Risk Management and Insurance serves and supports the UA System Office by providing oversight and administration of all system-wide insurance programs, and serves the UAB Medicine Enterprise and UAB Medicine affiliates with other risk management and insurance activities, including clinical risk management and medical professional liability concerns.

Hours of Operation 
You may reach the Office of Risk Management Monday-Friday during normal business hours (except holidays). 

For after-hours emergencies, contact the UAB Call Center at 205-934-3411 and ask for the Risk Manager on call.
