UAB School of Health Professions Scholarship Application
At the bottom of this page, you will see a list of all the scholarships available next semester. One application is all you need to be considered for both schoolwide and department/program level awards that are offered by the UAB School of Health Professions. The deadline to submit your completed application is 5 p.m. (Central) on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Who is Eligible?
- Applicants must have submitted an application, be admitted to UAB, and enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours per term of coursework within a School of Health Professions undergraduate program or 9 hours in a graduate program. Enrollment requirements do not have to be met at the time of application but must be met before scholarship funds are distributed.
- Applicant must have at least a "B" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average on all coursework.
- Leadership, ability and potential as demonstrated through extracurricular activities (on and off campus), job performance or similar experiences will be given consideration in the awarding of these scholarships.
- We strongly encourage all applicants to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid through the UAB Financial Aid Office to be considered for need-based scholarships.
Application Procedure
Step 1: Write an Essay
- Your essay will be evaluated on content, grammar and style. It should be no longer than two double-spaced pages. It should address the following:
- What life experiences have shaped who you are today and what challenges have you overcome in achieving your education (e.g., financial, personal, medical)?
- Explain why you need financial assistance and what would receiving a scholarship mean to you.
- Describe your academic and career goals and your plans to achieve them and discuss any of your extracurricular/volunteer activities (both on and off campus) that you may perform.
- Describe an event in which you took a leadership role and what you learned about yourself and how the experience(s) will impact you in the future.
Step 2: Submit a Resume
- Your resume should outline your campus/community involvement, leadership, and employment.

Step 3: Fill out the Application
- Fill out the UAB School of Health Professions Scholarship Application online form which includes submitting your essay and resume.
