Christophe JacksonChristophe Jackson serving at Firehouse ShelterChristophe Jackson, Ph.D., a student in the UAB School of Health ProfessionsPhysician Assistant Studies program, was selected for the 2016 Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program for Medical Technology (SMDP MedTech). SMDP MedTech supports its fellows to create and produce a wide-range of products to further the growing number of discoveries and advances in the industry to create medical technology products and health information systems that improve human health and enhance the quality of life for people around the world.

He was nominated by a committee of members from the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, Ford Foundation and the National Institutes of Health for his efforts to merge the sciences, engineering and clinical studies.

The award included a five-day SMDP MedTech Training Session with mentors from major health industry sponsors such as Medtronic, Johnson-Johnson, AMGEN, Deliotte, Baxter, and many other international companies. After the event, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the SDMP mentorship continues for Jackson until his graduation from the PA program to create and enhance health care products and services used to diagnose, monitor or treat diseases or medical conditions in the state of Alabama through academic, community, and industry partnerships from major sponsors such as Med-Tronic, Johnson-Johnson, and Baxter.
