Advanced Simulation Training at UAB
The Office of Interprofessional Simulation (OIPS) and UAB Clinical Simulation collaboratively host and develop courses and resources to support the development of simulationists under the SimUAB® trademark.
These courses train-the-trainer on facilitation techniques, scenario building, debriefing and more. As part of this collaborative effort, SimUAB® recently partnered with the renowned Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to host a comprehensive four-day simulation facilitator course. Three CMS faculty members instructed the course, titled Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing, which was held from May 7-11 in UAB Medicine's Clinical Simulation center in UAB Hospital's Quarterback Tower.
The course included active participation from 20 simulationists representing UAB, Children's of Alabama and the UAB Health System, aiming to enhance their skills in designing and debriefing simulation sessions.
This collaboration marks the 10th occasion in which UAB has teamed up with CMS, a distinguished Harvard affiliate, demonstrating a commitment to offering exceptional training opportunities. The flagship CMS course equips simulation program leaders and instructors with the necessary tools to leverage simulation in addressing real challenges within health-care organizations and health professions schools.
