Assistant Directors, Athletic Performance
UAB Athletics
Cederberg and Klotz are responsible for designing and implementing year-round training programs for their respective UAB Athletics teams, in addition to other responsibilities. This year, the duo took on more teams, but Stacey Torman, director of strength and conditioning, says that even with all the extra responsibilities they have had this year, they both continue to bring “their A-game.”
“I am so thankful for their investment in what we do as a team,” she said, adding that they bring integrity, passion, a love of learning and creativity to their jobs.
“They are so much fun, it makes it exciting to come to work every day," she continued.
A native of Portland, Oregon, Cederberg graduated from Linfield College, where he also was a three-year letter-winner in football and baseball. He then earned his master’s degree at Central Washington University. When not working, Cederberg enjoys hanging out with his wife,a doctoral student at UAB, hiking, exercising and exploring the South. He says that UAB Athletics is large with many working parts, and he enjoys that “there is a group of people who truly know and like each other across multiple departments.”
Originally from Illinois, Klotz received a master’s degree from Murray State University and then moved to Birmingham to earn his masters in exercise physiology at UAB. Klotz enjoys relaxing with his family and friends in his spare time. Klotz says that UAB Athletics sees people from all walks of life trying to “win championships, graduate with honors and make a difference.” He challenges people to come support the UAB program, because their support can really make a difference.
