URec Virtual 5K - Earth Hour Day
ANY time on Saturday, March 28
The only thing certain during this uncertain time is that we need to be mindful of our own self-care. Just because the gyms are closed does not mean we cannot be active! Get up and join University Recreation in its first-ever Virtual 5K!
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is one that can be run or walked from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on a trail, on a treadmill, on a track, or around your quarantined living room! This is your own race, at your own pace, at whatever time you decide.
How does it work?
First, pick your route or favorite treadmill. The route needs to be the 5k distance or 3.1 miles. Once that is settled, you will run, jog, or walk the distance. Make sure to track the distance and time yourself!
How to submit your results?
Once you have completed your 5K you will submit your results here!
How do you win?
It may be cliché, but we are all winners! The goal for our first Virtual 5K is to create a shared goal that we can all work together to complete by encouraging each other! Share your goals, routes, times, and fun with others as we encourage everybody to stay active during this wild and crazy time.
Want to earn extra points? Share your photos of your race!
Social distancing does not mean social isolation! Take a selfie during your race and share it with your UAB URec friends using the #URecVirtual5K! You can also include your photos in your results submission, and we will share your awesomeness through our social media outlets too!
