Mission: Green Zone Training is a program for UAB’s faculty and staff to provide a deeper understanding of veteran and service members’ experience and to offer tools to better assist them as they transition to the academic and professional life.
Green Zone training attendees will be able to:
- provide student veterans with support and information about resources
- identify barriers, issues and concerns student veterans and active military face
- gain tools to help, equip and guide student veterans’ overall academic experience
- identify on-campus resources for student veterans’ mental health
- recognize signs from specific mental and emotional challenges student veterans face and provide resources for support
Following training, attendees will be presented with a certificate of completion and will be regarded as “Green Zone Ambassadors.” They will also receive stickers to display outside of their offices to let others know that they can provide support and information about resources for student veterans and active military members.
